Commodities are secured from Potential Suppliers who provide quotes on request by DEXIA. These Potential Suppliers must submit satisfactory information as per a questionnaire presented by DEXIA for inclusion on The Potential Suppliers List.

Commodity specifications, in keeping with Caricom Standards, are included in the invitation to quote from Potential Suppliers.

All commodity imports are containerized and DEXIA's average annual imports are as follows:

1. Brown Sugar - 1600 Metric tonnes
2. White Sugar - 1300 Metric tonnes
3. Parboiled Rice - 485 Metric tonnes
4. White Rice - 380 Metric tonnes

The department is manned by a Manager, a Warehouse Supervisor, and four porters and its Warehouse is located on the ground floor of DEXIA's premises on the Bay Front, adjacent to the Roseau Market where customers make wholesale purchases of its commodities.

The profits derived from the sale of its commodities finance 95% of the operations of DEXIA, particularly the Market Support Services and the Central Services Departments.

Essentially, The Commercial Department provides quality products at affordable prices to the Dominican consumer while providing financial support to the very essential marketing aspect of Dominican produce and products.
