The DEXIA Act of 1986 made a radical move towards government's intervention in facilitating the development of the agricultural sector.
At that time banana was king and the non-traditional agricultural sector
was making significant contributions to the national economy. There were justifiable concerns regarding output and the disposal of that output in regional and international markets. DEXIA in those early days
performed the role of facilitator and did not take title to goods.

The Dominica

Under the European Union’s Special Framework of Assistance (SFA) 2004 and in collaboration with the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, DEXIA was awarded a Grant Contract amounting to EC$3.8 Million to implement a Private Sector Development Programme referred to as the Business Gateway Over a 36 month period.
This Programme is aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the Private Sector in Dominica, through an innovative programme of business support services. |
