CEDA and DEXIA to host Strategic Planning Workshop
Workshop on strategic Planning as a tool
The workshop, organized by Caribbean Export in collaboration with DEXIA and funded by the European Union, will be hosted at DEXIA’s conference room on July 11th and 12th, 2007. Rosaline Corbin of Catalyst Consultants of Barbados will facilitate the workshop. Sessions will begin at 8:30am.
The strategic planning workshop
forms part of a series of business development seminars delivered to BSOs
throughout the CARIFORUM countries.
They follow a survey of regional BSOs in 2006 which identified support
in the development of business plans and export marketing plans as the areas of
greatest demand coming from companies.
According to the organizers, the workshop will seek to increase participants’ awareness of the importance of strategic planning as a tool for business development and expose them to the critical elements, principles and processes of strategic planning and how these can be utilized to enhance the competitiveness of the business enterprise. The participants will also be equipped with useful knowledge, skills and techniques which would enable them to assist their members to develop more strategic approaches in their business plans.
Some of the key issues to be explored include critical elements of the strategic planning process, strategic analysis, SWOT analysis and action planning.
In addition to the BSOs, and given the significance attached to strategic planning as a business development tool, the seminar has been opened to business associations, companies and individuals delivering business development services to business enterprises as well.
The workshop will be preceded by a brief opening ceremony at 8:30am.
